Fix Outlook 2010 "Not Responding" Error

Problem :

I have Office 2010 32 bit (version 14.0.4536.1000) installed on an HP dv9000 notebook 64 bit w/ 4gb ram. I continually have a problem with Outlook 2010 freezing with a "Not Responding" error message. I upgraded the operating system to Windows 7 to see if that would help, but it still freezes up. This happens numerous times a day. It usually happens when I am composing an email but sometimes during the send/receive mode.

I have Office 2010 running on another computer (desktop 32 bit w/Vista) and it works flawlessly.

Solution :

To solve it I did a SCANPST and found many errors in the .pst files. To do a scan go to:C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 14 and scroll down till you find the scanpst.exe program and run it. Run it several times as you may not fix all the errors on the first run through. Be patient, if you have a lot of emails, it may take a while to do the scan, backup, and repair.
